Fluttering eyelids

Drooping head

Elbow propped on table

to support sagging head

Shiny gold

Corner of my eyes

Satin shawl

Bright pink and vermillion

Scars and scratches

on my hand and arm

Broken threads

like daydreams

obsession never realized

turning pen over in fingers

painful hangnails

jaundiced thumb

thick vessels of blood

pumping, throbbing, trapped

in a maze of flesh and bone

muscle and sinew of elastic

chilled cold

freezing shattered shaking

like anger unbroken

an ice storm of frozen death

raining from a cloud of peuce puff

gilded gliding sailing deep

into the air

fresh with sound

tingling with breath and crisp jacket sounds

the rustle pull of fabric

fabric pulling on chill skin

chafing chapping ripping

dry out flake off

little chips of fury

floating to earth like snow

cleansed cleaned washed

flicker of inspiration

warmth

kind response

wellness restored

refreshed balanced

born new flesh

mottled happy young

supple soft squeezed

held protected warm
