But I Was Alone

It was just the beginning,
We had just met.
The air was cold,
The ground was wet.
There was a chill,
I should have known.
We were together,
But I was alone.
You were too good to be true,
So understanding and kind.
I believe, now,
That love is blind.
You took my hand,
I could fly.
Then you tried so hard,
To make me cry.
You said you loved me,
I don't understand.
You told me so,
While holding my hand.
Now I know better,
Now I have grown.
We were together,
But I was alone.
