Jenine sighed and sat up, leaning against her pillow and letting her long blonde hair fall messily around her shoulders. Her bright blue eyes, now bleary with sleep, glanced around her room. It was painted a light pink, with a darker pink shag rug, and she had a dresser and big mirror right across from her bed. Her closet was huge, which was good because it needed to be able to hold all of her clothes. It was also.. a wreck! Her shoes were parked sloppily next to her door, which was shut tight. Posters of pop stars and friends covered her walls and ceiling. Her bed was a canopy one, with a floaty pink canopy and pink bedspread/pillow sheets. Pink was her favorite color, in case you couldn't tell. ;)
Jenine was normal heighth for her age, and she wasn't fat at all. She was on the slim side, but wasn't skin and bones or anything. She weighed what was normal for her 13-year-old, seventh grade body. She had.. er.. good-sized boobs. (o.o;) But they weren't humongous or anything. Basically, Jenine was perfectly normal.
Except for one thing.
She was a complete fake.

A year ago, Jenine had been what was then, herself. She had hung out with a crowd of both girls and guys, who weren't the most popular kids in school. (This was when she was in elementary school.) However, she wasn't a complete dork or anything. Her family life was pretty good and she got along fine with her parents and her little sister, Jaclyn (nicknamed Jackie) who was six. Being one of the most popular girls in school had never mattered too much to Jenine.
Until she entered junior high.
Junior high had changed Jenine. She had gone into it without being in any classes with her best friends from elementary school, and although at first they tried to keep in touch as much as possible, they grew apart after only a little while. And that was normal. Friends do grow apart, unfortunately, even though they promise to be there for each other forever. And most of the time, that's fine, because they've made new friends.
Well, Jenine had made new friends, too. Sort of.
During her first day of school, Jenine became friendly with the In Crowd there. A couple of girls from the In Crowd at her old school were in it, along with a lot of other girls too. They seemed to be nice girls.
Well, somewhere along the line, Jenine felt that being popular was the most important thing in life. Her old friends, who had been drifting apart from her anyway, broke off old friendships at this point, startled at the "New Jenine". But Jenine didn't care; she had new friends now.
So while Jenine was obsessed with being popular, she worked on making herself extremely feminine and cool and pretty and hot and everything that the perfect girl should be. That was her goal - perfection. Her popularity grew steadily. She made even MORE popular friends, and realized after awhile that she had a double life.
Her life at home was almost as normal as it had been last year. She had changed a little naturally, but acted the same around her family. However, at school, it was a whole different story..
This is where our story begins.
