She lived in the suburbs of Seattle, Washington. The rain was quite depressing. Seeing the raindrops drip down the windowpane, it just really got her down.
She goes to school everyday just wishing that she were somewhere else. You might say, well that's just like every other high school kid. That's where you're wrong. Most other kids want to be at home, or at a friend's house, or at a boyfriend/girlfriends house. But Aurora was different.
Aurora's home life was shit. Her mom didn't have a job. Her dad left when she was 8 weeks old. Her older sister is in jail. Her older brother is a pothead. Her younger brother is a total pest. She would dream about being anywhere but home.
Aurora had a few friends. But they were more like acquaintances, or people she had talked to in a class that she sat next to them. She had only two true friends. That was Brandon and Rachelle.
Aurora had met Rachelle in the 8th grade, and they had been on and off really close. This year they were hard to separate. Brandon came into Aurora's life the next year about ¾ of the way through. They had all grown really close. They were known as the Three Musketeers incognito.
But the thing is, Aurora wanted more. She was yearning for more friends, ones that would care about her, and love her. She wanted a boyfriend. Since her home life wasn't too spectacular, Aurora has been missing the love that could have been.
Aurora wished for Brandon to see her as more than a friend. She thought he seemed like he did. He flirted with her, and he acted like he wanted more than a friendship too. But she just couldn't tell.
She was in a crappy predicament. Rachelle liked Brandon too. Whenever they were alone, Aurora and Rachelle couldn't stop thinking of Brandon. They only thought of him. He was the subject of most conversations, the topic of all brain waves, and the object of Aurora's affection.
