Chapter 11: Denise

Well it hadn't been a bad first mission, in some cases. We found out who had been sending the anonymous letters and we had done what every G.E.T.S. agent had been trying to do. Murder the Sly One. Sure it had only happened, because I had snapped a band, gone over the edge. What do you want me to say? What did you expect me to do? Walk away, and say, "Hey man it's okay"? The monster had my family's heads!

Either way we had succeeded, even if we had left Zack and JC behind. There's no telling what had happened to them that caused them to stay away.

Once we had arrived home everyone asked where we had been the whole week. We told the kids at school that our parents had decided to go on a spur-of-the-moment vacation and we (excluding myself) told our parents we were on a trip with the debate team.

A week later, the four of us decided to go on a rock climbing trip in the ravine just outside of town. We borrowed some gear from the agency and took a bus to the edge of town, and then we walked the rest of the way to the ravine.

"Whose going first?" Marit said nearly daring someone to go as she peered down into the ravine.

We all traveled down a pathway along the wall and then found a place where it would be somewhat challenging. It took nearly half the day to climb from the bottom to the top. We rested at the top and then we started back into town.

We grew tired again just on the outskirts of town, so we rested under a huge tree. We all laid sprawled out just staring up at the sky.

"I wonder what happened to Zack and JC?" Marit asked yawning loudly.

"Who knows?" I replied sleepily.

We were all nearly asleep when I heard the rev of a motor, the squeal of wheels. I sat up and looked towards the highway. A black van turned off quickly and headed straight for the tree...and us!

"Guys! Wake up! I don't know how but they found us! C'mon!" I yelled shaking everyone awake.

It didn't take long for them to be on their feet running in the direction of the ravine. Jason took time to grab some rope from his equipment bag. I grabbed his wrist and pulled him behind me.

How they found us, I didn't know, but I did know that we had to get away.
