'Child of the Night'
By: Okami Cloud
This is a little story about my vampire character and how he got to meet Oni Akiyama. *sweatdrops* R/R please.
-Prologue-
I am the 'Child of the Night'. Unlike most of my kind, I was born the way I am now. Then again, most would say that they were 'reborn' once they drank the blood of their creator. However, I am special. Unique even to my own kind. Thanks to my demonic mother, I can age and walk out in the sunlight, but thanks to my damned father, I am immortal. Doomed to drink blood and walk among mortals. I am also blind because of this curse…this damned disease that plagues my every waking moment. Hangs on my every breath I draw, every beat of my vile heart. All that I can think of is stopping that damned beating of my small heart in my chest, but, dammit, I'm immortal! Kami-sama, take pity on my pitiful existence and bring me the eternal sleep that claims the many victims that I myself have taken each night.
I blink away the blood-tainted tears that threaten to run down my pale cheeks. I am alone. Ever since a vampire slayer took my damned father, I have been alone. And what of my mother? Ha! My father took her once I was born. She was my first kill as well, which is why I feel no remorse for my father's death. And why should I? It is his fault I live my life like this. It is his fault I have no mother. It is his fault that I meet Oni Taki Akiyama.
-Chapter 1-
I walked along the dark, deserted streets of Tokyo, looking for someone to drink from. My dark trench coat billows behind me as I reach the outskirts of town. Then a thought crosses my mind. This isn't right. At this time of night, the streets of Tokyo should be overrun with people, but no. I cannot smell blood anywhere around me. That's when I sensed it.
Poisonous blood. Blood that reeked of holy energy. I spin around and feel someone's body heat near me, "Who's there?" I call.
"Are you lost?" asked an angelic voice, "You're blind, are you not?"
"Startled by the man's questions, I feel myself nod, "May I ask you for your name, sire?"
"King Okami Cloud-Akiyama," he says as I sense a smile play across his face, "I have given my name, may I have yours?"
King…Oh. Shit. I find myself kneeling on the ground, my cloud-blue locks hiding my milky-gray eyes from view, "Your Highness, please forgive my rudeness. I merely did not know who you were because I am blind. I do not make excuses, I am merely stating a fact, Your Highness."
An angelic sound reaches my ears, and I slowly look up to find him laughing, "Such a well behaved young man. I wish more people your age behaved in such a manner. Please, come with me. I wish to speak with you further."
I am about to protest, but his gloved hand finds mine and he lifts me to my feet, "Your Highness…?"
"You said you were lost, did you not?" he asks, leading me down the street to some place unknown to me. I nod once more, "You interest me, boy." He pauses for a moment, sighing, "Now I must ask for your forgiveness, child. I have yet to gain your name."
I blush, but quickly try to hide it, "Kibo. My name is Mekura Kibo."
"Kibo…" he pauses once more as if remembering something very important he had forgotten long ago, "It is very nice to meet you, Mekura-kun."
After we walk further down the deserted streets, Okami pauses and waits as the sound of an old iron gate opening reaches my ears, "Your Highness, you're back," said a voice from somewhere in the corner. Then man pauses, obviously perplexed by me standing near Okami, "Who's the child, sire?"
"Mekura Kibo. I found him wondering the outside while I was…" he pauses for a moment, seemingly lost in thought, "You know."
"Of course, sire."
Okami leads me along the dirt pathway and up a pair of marble steps. Before he can open the door, however, it bursts open and three people run out. All of whom obviously know the King very well. Well enough to call him by his first name even, "Okami! Okami where have you been?"
"Fukki, Haru, Oni? What are you all doing up?" asked Okami, leaving my side to join the others, "Oni, son. I made sure you were in bed when I left, what are you doing up at this hour?"
I can feel the boy, Oni, glance at me before returning his worried gaze to Okami, "I was worried about you father. You didn't tell me where you were going, and mother was too busy with whatever he-I of course mean she…" Okami smirks at his son, but says nothing more to this. He turns to the young man named Fukki, and rests his hand on his shoulder for a moment.
"Fu-chan, can you please take Oni back to his bedroom, or at least let him stay in Mamoru's room until I or…" he smirks again, "my wife can take him back to his room. I wish to speak with my brother right now."
Fukki smirks as well, "Of course, Okami-chan." he kisses Okami's cheek before turning to Oni and taking his slender hand in his own, "Come on, Oni, do you want to stay with Mamoru for now?"
"I guess so, Fukki-san." Oni glances at me once more before turning his attention back to Fukki.
