Chapter 2: Fire and Metal
"We lost."
"I know, Tieranos, I know!"
"It's a normal thing to lose."
"Yes, but, we lost...to HIM!"
"Zeliese."
"What?"
"Calm down."
Zeliese glared at Tieranos with fire in her eyes. Which was usual, when you looked at Zeliese's full form. She had fiery red hair, fiery eyes, fiery skin; fire touched her in places men dreamed of touching. She wore a simple brazier and under garments. By her side was a large sword. The hilt looked like a wave of flame.
Tieranos, on the other hand, was quite the opposite of fire. His attire was simple. A metal suit of armor, bearing no decorations, no symbols...nothing. He wasn't wearing a helmet, showing his gray eyes and bald head.
They were in Tieranos's room. Like Morbdos's, it was sterile, but this had an eerie feeling of machinery. Everything was composed of metal. The walls, the desk, the chairs. If Tieranos wanted a view of the universe, a globe would appear on his desk. It was the only thing not of metal. Also, the room was brightly lit. Tieranos was seated in a metal chair and Zeliese was standing. Zeliese didn't move her eyes.
"We must take revenge!" she said through gritted teeth.
"How? We need to regroup first. If we try to attack now, we will lose even more lives, and we would be humiliated even further." Tieranos's voice was calm, yet firm. It had a certain tone of finality in it. Zeliese sighed in defeat.
"Fine." She looked away at the man, and turned her gaze to a wall. "How were we defeated?"
"I told you before. We expected his forces to be in the plains, but they attacked us from behind instead."
"We were betrayed?"
"I doubt it. Morbdos probably knew about our spies and kept his forces in the plains to surprise us."
"Cunning snake."
"Indeed." Zeliese drew in a breath and let out another sigh.
Suddenly, the red light flew through the room. It washed over the walls, the desk, the two figures, and then it was gone. Tieranos stood, surprised.
"The alarm!" he exclaimed.
"An emergency meeting? We haven't had one in ages! Aeons!"
"I know...I hope everything is well."
"If it's an emergency, then everything is obviously not well. Come on, let's go."
She turned and walked towards a wall. Tieranos followed. As they neared, the wall opened up before them. Outside was a black space. Zeliese walked into it and was gone. Tieranos followed. The wall sealed itself after they passed through, and everything was silent.
