Cuisine to your tastes, inherent
Hot dogs and hamburgers
Cuisine to your address, to fit in
Fed the American dream
And so you were kept out

Mixed up, East and West
All look alike, except you
Too tall for East
Too dark for West
In between you float
Melted in the pot

Math and science, your legacy
Help them reach the stars
A promise, repeated, unfulfilled
Poetry and music, your effigy
Help you reach the stars
A calling, repeated, unfulfilled

Exotic and beautiful
Emulated, acceptable
See them idolize your kind
Dare you do the same
Dare you to ache for it
When Asia is so far away
