Everyday
It happens everyday
Another heart is broken
Someone believes too much
Someone's faith is shaken
They put too much
Into something small
Overflow spilling
Mixing in an endless sprawl
Now they'll never find happiness
Dim lighting clouds their eyes
They pray and add one last light
Away it goes and into the dark wall it pries
Pries until it works a small hole
Circle of hope amid terrifying dreams
Despite their renewed fervor
Is this hope what it seems?
Will it bring them freedom
Or shut them in tight
Will it bring them up high
Then shut them in night
Will the light lead them on
Hopeful and true?
Then beat them down
Bruises black and blue
Only once they falter
Taking such risk as they must
Reaching out with needing hand
Finding only warm feelings and solid trust
Finally the hope comes near
They're so tired
From walking on edge so shear
So close from light to dark
They rest in comfort
But only for so long
They realize they're falling
Their support is gone
They fall pass a barrier
They'd thought they'd destroyed
There it's formed anew
A weapon the dark employs
Now they'll never get out
They're stuck quite fast
They'll never have the strength
To escape from the past
