Dear Happy Bunny,

A journal. Me, Mercy Coldwater. I never thought I would be sitting in my garret bedroom (doesn't that sound quaint? It's not, I have digital cable TV, broadband internet, and a vacuum that runs itself) at 1 o'clock in the morning, writing in a journal. How dumb. And you know something else? The date's wrong. It should be October 16th. But I got this journal on my birthday, which is October 15th, and I wanted to start this damn thing the same day. So, we'll overlook the discrepancy this one time.
Well, Mom's yelling up the stairs for me to go to sleep. I have school tomorrow, but I promise I'll find some scrap of time to write in you.
