In Remembrance
September 11, 2002
Beautiful September morning,
What happened to you?
You started with Joy,
And ended in Sorrow.
Evil struck,
And many died.
All cried.
One year gone by,
What have we learned?
Still we hate,
Still we kill.
We are a City on a Hill.
All can see us,
Light should flow,
But Shadow falls.
How do we Honor those who Died?
When everyone else
ran away,
They ran In,
To all most certain Death.
In the high-jacked planes,
Some sat still. . .
But one Man cried,
“Let’s Roll!”
So many Heroes unsung,
No one knows what they have done.
Can you here their Call?
“Do NOT forget us!”
“Yes, we are gone,
Yes, the World must go on.
But DO NOT forget us!
We are not just from
New York,
We are not just from Boston.
We Lived,
We had Dreams.”
“I am not just Firefighter from Station #6.
I had a Name,
Though none know it now,
I had a FAMILY,
Still they weep for me.”
“I am not just ‘Person found at desk.’”
“I am not just ‘Unidentified person 406.’”
“I could have been YOU!
Yes I know, Life must go on,
But Do NOT forget ME!”
