I cry for those who are lost, I weep with those who mourn
But who am I to do these things when I live a life of scorn?

What a cross I bear to know one of These,
A lover whose tears only make me grieve;
A passion that leaves me helpless.

I know Your heart and its measure of choice
My spirit is so inclined that I relish Your voice.

What a burden I carry to see through Your eyes,
Yet to be restricted by life; by heart; by time.

Do You listen to me when I weep?
Do You know the times that I cry?

Have You been with me in my fear?
Have You known the pain: to suffer and die?

Sustain me, O God!
My heart cannot carry on;
I need understanding.

My plea is that You would draw nigh.
My prayer is that You would reveal Your mercy.
