I look at you in the mirror
Everything's wrong
This shirt doesn't fit right
It never will
Your face is too feminine
In ways that only you notice
People used to call you pretty
When your hair was long
And pink made you look cute

But not because it hurt

Compare yourself to your brother
Look at pictures of your dad
When he was your age
What would you look like?
You look like them
But you are held back
Your growth is stunted
And nothing fits your life

You shave in the morning
Because it makes you a man
Look at the necklace you can't take off
Because the one who knows
Gave it to you

You bite your nails
Because a girl told you
That they were pretty once

Because someone called you

And then apologized
When you weren't

Bury the razor
Because you can't hide anymore
See it reflect red
In this mirror
That lied to you so many times

I see you here
A reflection of me
Making changes to this face
