The Lady

SSSSS

The lady lies among the reeds,

Where she is at rest,

Some say she was cursed,

Because she thought death was best.

Her body, she was mutilated,

Her reputation shattered,

The man, he took her faith,

And left her bruised and battered.

She thought that in the eyes of God,

She no longer had a place,

The water swished about her knees.

And crept up to her face.

There was no funeral for this girl,

For days nobody knew,

And when at last they found her,

She was pushed back in the blue.

The lady lies among the reeds,

Where she is at rest,

Some say she was cursed,

But she thought death was best.

SSSSS
