Let Go
Chapter 1: Tomorrow

Amber sat on the floor of her cluttered city home bedroom. Her fingers caressed the strings of her four string maroon ibanez bass with familiar grace as rich baritone melodies fill the air. Her brother's lean form flopped down on her bed behind her.
"Are you still at it?" she stopped the vibrating strings with the palm of her hand as the song came to an end.
"Huh?"
"You were playing when I left... two hours ago."
"It's called practice little brother." She got up and placed her bass in its stand in the corner, turning off her tiny practice amp. Her other one being at the wear house her band uses as a practice space.
"You're only older then my by twenty minutes." He said mussing her long braided hair as she sat down beside him.
"Its still twenty minutes! So how was your game Mr. Centerfield? I see that you didn't shower so the game when well."
"Yeah, we won five to two. Beverly wants to take us out to celebrate..." he trailed off at the look on his sister's face. At the mention of their father's girlfriend, a deep frown set itself on her face. Silence filled the room as they sat shoulder-to-shoulder watching the TV on mute. He fiddled absent-mindedly with the end of one of Amber's braids as he waited for her to speak.
"Well have fun."
"Amber -
"Jason, you know very well why I don't like dad's girlfriend. She is the reason why mom is gone."
"Beverly is trying really hard, she feels horrible about what happened to mom and you aren't helping any."
"If dad really loved mom Beverly would be gone by now. I hate her and I don't like dad much either."
"We're going to Meow's, it's your favorite!" she stared at the screen, thinking. Jason was tightening the colored wire wrapped around her braids.
"Well...?"
"Fine! I'll go, but I'm wearing the shirt."
"That's fine as long as you come. You haven't gone out in a while, I fear you are turning into an introvert."
"Ha ha. Go shower. You smell!" she shoved him off her bed, laughing as he left. She got up and walked to her closet. She pulled out a white shirt with a large red heart on it that said '#1 mom'. A smile crept onto her face.
