Falling Melodies
The car stereo
Plays a string quartet,
But the pitter-patter
Of the rain,
Is the real music
To my ears.
Raindrops decorate the
Window.
The modern insanity of
Industries and smokestacks
Behind this vehicle has been
Washed away.
The world I once knew
Is now an impressionist
Masterpiece;
The rain is the paint
Portraying a world of
Technology and electricity
In a way that is most
Beautiful.
I trace a raindrop
With my fingertip
As it sails across the window
But I cannot keep it forever
Because it lives on the outside
World.
The raindrop escapes me
And a piano sonata starts.
My father makes a joke
About the weather.
I can't remember laughing
But there's nowhere else
I would rather be.
