Tell Me When

(A/N: My dad has rosebushes, and a rosebud chose to appear the day before a hurricane hit…amazingly, the rose survived…that inspired this poem)

Tell me when

The rose survives the rainstorm

And the sky is lit

With the flame of a single candle

And tell me when

They stop ridiculing me

And listen to what I have to say

Instead of criticizing what I've already said

And tell me when

I start being normal

And being myself

Around others

Especially you

And tell me when

All these

Pointless little niceties

Actually MEAN something

With no room for interpretation

Tell me when

The world is a better place

So I can love you

Without angering anyone

Tell me when

I can take you in my arms

And love you anew

Without fear of Rejection

Hurt

Suffering

And tell me when

You could love me back…
