"The next ship out date is less than a week away, guys. If we want to go now, we should sign up." MJ was sitting on the hood of the William's car, her long legs dangling over the edge. The movie had been fun, but typical- the same as every Saturday. They were just waiting for Kurt to meet up with them again so they could go home.

"Hey ladies!" a voice came from behind the car. It was one of those annoying voices that ring in your head long after the person has finished talking.

At the sound of that voice, MJ's eyes widened. Her body went straight as a ruler and stiff as anything. Her eye began to twitch ever so slightly, but she kept facing in the opposite direction of the voice.

The rest of the girls turned do face the voice. This voice belonged to one Ronnie Jenkins, the grandson of the poor woman Riley had almost run over. He had medium height, but hunched over shoulders. This made his arms, which were already thin and gangly, hang lower than normal and gave him the look of a wilted flower. He was unfortunately thin, and had the bad habit of pulling his pants up too high, revealing his thin ankles. All of this had earned him the friendly name "Scrawny Ronnie." He was the type who got made fun of, but had the math smarts and you knew that in the future would be the boss of everyone who had previously laughed at him.

He was also the type who had had a crush on MJ since grade four.

The only one polite enough to say hello to Ronnie was Eve, and she only said a low, "Hullo Ronnie."

And the girls weren't the type not to like him because he wasn't popular at school. Alex, in fact, rebelled against that sort of stuff. The reason they couldn't stand Ronnie was because he practically harassed MJ every day, not to mention he was a know it all and had the distinct air about him that said 'I am so much smarter than you'.

Ronnie brushed off Eve's hello and pushed his thick glasses up his nose. "Hello MJ," he grinned a big toothy grin at her and leaned on the car.

MJ smoothed her skirt a bit and cleared her throat. Her eye continued to have that little twitch, but she managed to say, "Hello Ronnie." Alex was obviously fighting the urge to tell him to get off of her car, but she wasn't going to be a grump, so she held her tongue.

"MJ, I don't know why you come here every Saturday with ." the word 'girls' was thick with a tone of 'we're better than them' ".when you could be on a date with moi!" he pushed his glasses up again.

Riley's eyes bulged. She clenched her fists into tiny balls. This wasn't the first time she'd wanted to smack him upside the head. Eve put a firm hand on her shoulder telling her that she didn't like it any more than Riley, but she needed to control her temper.

"I come here with my FRIENDS because they are just that. FRIENDS. I don't come with you don't happen to fit into that category, Ronnie." The word 'Ronnie' was dripping with hatred. He was always down talking her friends- and not only that, he BEST friends. She was tired of it.

Ronnie coughed as if choking on his own surprise, "Well then. You wait MJ. You'll end up seeing the real me. You'll end up falling for me like so many other girls before you-"

"-Is there a problem here Scrawny?" a big hand clapped down on Ronnie's shoulder. Now it was Ronnie's turn to have his eyes bulge.

"Kurt!" his voice cracked. He was scared of Kurt. "How, um, nice to see you! Nothing's going on here. I was just leaving as a matter of fact!"

"Ok. Let's keep it that way." Kurt glared down at Ronnie and he scurried off to whatever pit of hell he came from.

They all climbed into the car and Alex sighed, "You're such a bully, Kurt. I love it!" she laughed evilly and everyone stared at her for a moment. She shrugged and looked out the window.

"Thanks for getting him off my back, Kurt," MJ sighed. "He can be such a knob."

Kurt shrugged nonchalantly. "Meh, I don't much like him anyway. Besides, he was bugging you." He started the car.

"That was nice of you," Eve smiled. She was sitting in the front again, this time on her own free will.

There was a comfortable silence for a few moments. It was the kind of silence where you don't feel rude or awkward for not talking because everyone is lost in his or her own thoughts. Alex had her head pressed against the window, because this time she had gotten a window seat. She wasn't looking at anything in particular, when a sign caught her eye.

"Kurt, stop the car," she said out of nowhere.

"What?" he asked, but kept on driving.

"I said stop the ." She added a please on the end for good measure. Kurt shrugged and pulled the car to the side of the road.

"Why did I stop the car?" He questioned, looking around confused.

Alex didn't answer him, but she looked at her friends. "Guys, if you're serious about doing it, let's do it now."

"Now?" Eve looked worried.

"I'm already signed," Riley sighed, "so you BETTER be going."

"Yes now. Are you in?" Alex raised an eyebrow, challenging them all.

"'s going on?" Kurt asked again. And again, no one answered him.

"Let's do it." MJ stuck her hand out. Alex put her hand on top of it and looked at Riley and Eve. Riley put her hand on top, even though she didn't really see the point, as she had to go no matter what. Eve hesitated for a moment.

Finally she put her hand on top, "I'm in," she said firmly.

"What on earth is going on?" Kurt protested, "I'm so confused."

"Don't worry about it Kurt. I'll tell you later," Alex shook her head as if to say 'brothers.' She sighed, "Wait here. We'll be right back, OK?"

Kurt raised his eyebrow suspiciously, but nodded. The girls all climbed out of the car once again. They linked arms, "Let's go," MJ grinned.
