The Night Never Ends
Fae

I reminisce beneath the open skies,
Reflecting on this world so cold and wide.
The mask of opaque clouds behind we hide,
Conceal the stars that glisten in our eyes.
For what cannot derive from us despise,
While in this lost foresaken world reside?
All hope we must in others now confide,
If truth is ever meant to conquer lies.
The past has gone the future now arrives,
What will it hold in store for those still here?
What will we leave behind for those to come?
A poem, a tune, more fragments of our lives,
That wear away as day turns into year,
While living in this dying world; our home.
