Only last night my parents
Set out a trap
To catch a rat
Least that's what they intended
(I think)

They baited it with a Cheese,
A rat then to please,
In hopes it would work,
For all know rats do like it
(The cheese, I mean)

Rats are not the only cheeses
Lovers around, there's
Also the little
Brown squirrels around as well.
(They get everywhere, squirrels)

This particular one thought
It would be real swell
For a nip of those
Nice yellow cheeses
Lest that's what IT intended.
(It wasn't very attentive)

It sneaked and it did snook'ed,
In case it was seen
And someone else would
Go get the prize it had seen
(It didn't notice the trap)

It must have achieved that nice
Fine cheese, 'cause the next
Thing that we knew of
The cheese had disapear'ed
(The squirrel was hungry)

The squirrel was mad to be
Caught in the trap, though
Luckily it was
Unharmed, Which is a good thing
(Poor squirrel)

We set it real free and the
Policemen did come
And take it away
To heal it and set it free
(At least that's what I intend)

So the squirrel is gone, and
Hasn’t come back and
I hope it is doing
Well, and I wish it luck
(Though I hope that it won't need it)
