Getting' Into the Game

You put the mouth guard in its place
the look of anticipation spreads across your face
You get in line - a three-point stance
Giving the opposing side that all-knowing glance
The cadence of the QB sounds across the field
The fate of the ball will soon be revealed
You swing to the left, but reverse to the right
It's the first successful play of the night
The defense rounds back but you're quick on your feet
You have to run faster to assure their defeat
The tackles are coming; they're chasing the ball
They leap and you reach for the goal as you fall
You're back on your feet once you realize you're fine
Bust still just a couple yards short of that magnificent line
The plays the same, except to the left
As you finally score you leave them bereft
The half's almost over but the game's not complete
You're up in the score, but the win's not concrete
You hold your spirits while they start to pall
You finish the game, you play through it all
They're getting desperate; they're getting rough
But they'll finally learn when they had enough
That football is not just for guys who are buff
That's why they invented POWDERPUFF
