~ Ode to Death ~

How quiet is youir whisper, Love
Across the ice cold floor,
And how lovingly you caress them
And give darkness, forever more.

How sweet is your dark smile, Love
And your laugh of tempting fate
How kind, the greeting as they pass
The struggle of love and hate.

How gentle is your touch, my Love
The kiss of immortal lips
How tender the embrace you must make
As the soul from them you rip

And how softly you breathe their name, Sweet Love
And inhale the mortal scent
How beautiful, their last soft sigh
And the visions of a life spent.

How slowly you draw them close, my Love
And drain them slowly dry
How surely their being fades away
And how softly do you cry.
