The Trees are on Fire

(A/N: Why this title? Well, because I’m going for the whole fire allusion…..)

A brisk wind

Sudden and unexplained

Swirls about me

Chilling me

Inside and out

Scatters the leaves

Of red

Gold

Orange

Which

Like whispers of memories long past

Have faded with time

But the

Sudden unexplained breeze

Stirs them up

Bringing out the vivid

Painful detail

Making the reds run scarlet

And the golds gleam like a thousand summers

And the oranges burn with a fiery passion

And the dull gray skyscape

Of this autumn afternoon

Only serves to be a

Bland background

And these crystalline tears

Catch the light in their

Multifaceted sorrow

And then

Highlight the pain

Of the burning leaves
