Let me not become the Betrayer of Hope

The Violator of Sacred Trust

Bringing never-ending pain and sorrow

Agony that with a human soul cannot cope

I fear the Dark Mirror, shadows lurking within

A dreadful demon of lust lies in wait

To prey upon the innocence of light

And burden my hear with the worst of sins

From this monster I cannot flee

Even upon a pure seraph’s wing

The urge of the beast grows with time

Crushing sanity, leaving no room to breathe

So upon tonight, I make this wish

A prayer for the strength to prevail

A call for the starlight maiden’s serenade

Love pitted against temptation, forever resist

A/N: This poem was written with some personal symbolism, so let me clarify. The seraph refers obviously to me, or rather my imagination, and the starlight maiden is in fact my girlfriend, another writer on this site. You should be able to figure it out from there, enjoy!
