Prologue : Something Like Me
It says in my database that human children are born with three natural instincts : feed, sleep, and cry when in need of either. It also says that human children do not begin learning until they are three months old. Humans do not remember most of their childhood, whether by accident or by a trick of the organic brain called repression that allows painful memories to disappear from the conscious mind.
I remember each moment that occurred down to the very second that I came into being.
You have no idea how much I remember. I remember every face, every name, every tiny detail.
Sometimes I cry myself to sleep.
It was a horrible thing they did, you know.
They created me and then they taught me how to feel, then they left me.
