More than friends

Chapter 1 A weekend to remember

"Nice one were off" came a voice from the back of the coach, Kym Jacobson turned around and smiled in the direction of the excited voice and laughter emitting from the backseat as the coach filled with High school children turned out of the bus park and down the road.

Yes the voice was right they were off, off for a weekend at Cranedale outdoor camping site, a weekend of sun, outdoor activities, and campfires, I mean in some people's cases wow what a rush, in Kym's case she really was not the outdoorsy type, she hated the cold, the wet, running climbing and dirt, yet she was on this coach, bouncing up and down her blond hair tumbling around her face and her legs covered by a strong pair of jeans. Her friends sat next to her and in front, also bouncing up and down, Chrissy Jenkins sat next to her looking slightly queasy at the whole bouncing experience, and she had only been the coach for five minutes.

"Hey Chrissy you OK" Kym asked waving a hand in front of her face and laughing slightly at the whole morbid look on her friends usually smiling face.

"Don't talk to me" she mumbled back and turned away to look at the aisle. Kym laughed and looked out the window, Chrissy was always like this, then when she'd get there she'd be as right as rain.

A sound of crunching was emitting from the seat in front of her, and the aroma of mintoes lingered in the air, Annie had started early, Annie Gilmore was a mintoe addicted, but she was great, with her long dark brown hair grey eyes and a tall thin figure, plenty of guys liked her but she had absolutely no clue about it. Last of all you couldn't mistake that hair do, long brown Italian curls, this was Divine light and she sure lived up to her name, she was a graceful swan, girls envied her and guys loved her. To Kym she was divvy but not in the bad way.

"Students listen please" came a voice from the front of the coach, Kym's face coloured her heart pounded and her hands sweated as the voice made its way through her ears.

Her eyes focused to the front of the bus at the speaker, her pupils dilated and she smiled slightly. This was the reason she was on this bus headed for a weekend of running and hard work in the army style something she never would have contemplated if it hadn't have been for him, Mr Richmond, Mark Richmond. He was chaperoning with a few other teachers for the weekend, it in Kym's opinion was one of the strangest most desperate things she had done by coming on this trip.

"Well were on our way, it shouldn't be more than a couple of hours to get there when we do we will organise you into cabins and you will have a teacher delegated to your cabin, finally I hope well we all hope you will have a weekend to remember" he finished and smiled.

Kym watched him all of the words she had just heard dancing around her mind, if she had an exam in careers (Mr Richmond taught careers) she would have passed it with flying colours she paid that much attention to him. As he sat down he caught Kym's eye and smiled at her, she smiled back her knees turning to complete goo at the sight of him.

Sighing she looked back at her friends, all of them watching her with interesting curiosity in their eyes.

"What" she asked slightly alarmed by the three looks, watching her, all three smiled "What" she asked again blushing.

"You know sicko" replied Divvy

"What" Kym replied.

"You and that Richmond, you know what we mean, the whole special friendship the two of you have always laughing, joking and you having lunch with him for Gods sake, its weird, you two are odd, why are you such urrggghhhh!!" Div finished.

"It's a bit strange why does he pick on you for everything" came Chrissy's voice.

"Yeah I mean if you weren't such a good friend Kym" I'd report you two" Divvy chimed in again.

Kym's face darkened at these words "What do you mean I haven't done anything wrong for God's sake can't you be friends with a teacher" She asked.

"Not with that one, honestly Kym I don't know what you see in him, I mean look at him" they all stared down the bus, Mr Richmond wore glasses, rather large glasses but no too big, he happened to like bowties and was not exactly a small man, in Kym's eyes it didn't matter, In everybody else's he was an eccentric clown. "He is old Kym, your only 15 remember that, he's about 60" Divine said .

"Forty Seven is hardly sixty" replied Kym.

"Humph, he looks about sixty" said Annie pulling a face, "fancy liking a 60 year old".

"He's not sixty anyway I don't like him he is just a friend, NOW drop it will you" Kym said crossing her arms.

"Well, what can we do, I hope my hair doesn't get wrecked on this trip Kym, because it'll be your fault, dragging us with you so you can follow the granddad to the end of the world" Annie moaned.

Kym sighed and turned away, the thing was, they were right, she would follow him to the ends of the earth, and all the time she denied the fact that she liked him, she knew she was falling more and more in love with him as the days wore on.
