Act One
The soliloquy of the spirit of the millennia tree--Ao
Time is old
Sifted through my leaves
Fragmented
In the stream of time
I have spent a millennium
Washed by solitude
Chained by verdancy,
Spirit raging in despair
Seeking for freedom
I long to be free
The earth feeds and nurtures me
Yet fatally binds
Imprisoning me,
In an eternal stasis,
Not learned of the world
Vitreous River taught
of what my pale green eyes held
but little I learnt
A skylight opens,
But a shaft of the vast sky,
To me in this cave
Of places I dream,
Places fresh upon tilled soil,
Places unheard of
Existence
means nothing to me
emptiness
My spirit hungers
Sated only by release
Welcome joyous death
Of my heart, my mind
Of my pained hopes, my lost dreams
Of my existence.
