Gilded Cage, Leaden Wings

It’s hard for me to imagine

That something that feels this good, this right,

Can possibly be labeled as bad by society.

Looking up at you,

Feeling your hand gently caress my face

And watching the brass on your knuckles glint in the light…

I relax, wait for it to happen…

Sigh in happy relief at the sudden, forceful blow to my side

And worship you as your arm pulls back again.

This, this, is my heaven.

This is why I love you, why I have always loved you,

Why I stay with you, even when the others leave.

I will always be here.

Even if you offer me my freedom, I won’t leave this cage.

I love it here… And I don’t think I remember how to fly.

The above poem was inspired by Angela/Angel, a character I’ve yet to write about. She’ll be appearing in Almost An Angel soon enough, though. Anyways, it’s her thinking about Jezzabelle. That won’t make sense yet, but soon it will. Uber-quick, uber-basic summary: Angel is the very submissive partner in an S&M relationship. Jezzabelle is the very aggressive one. But she really does love Angel very much.
