A precipice upon a hill,
Grey clouds behind
Grey rivers there.
Grey mist steams
Up from frost-
Grey Lakes.

A Foggy bank
Right to the shore
A rear advance
For the dull grey world.
Others burdens rocks weigh down
Into the grey and frothing pond.

A starless night
So still and dark
Yet things do creep
All through the night
Without the light
To see the way.

A hard grey wall
Surrounds the mind
From the preditors behind
Protecting, guarding, Keeping safe
Under its shadow
While darkness waits.
