I built a brick wall
'round my thoughts and my dreams,
They try to tear it down.
I built it strong of pain and sorrow,
THey try to topple it.
The bricks are despair
They try to smash them
The mortar is fear
They look for cracks.
I built a brick wall
And no one can get in.

I built a safe haven
For all of myself
They try to tear it down.
I locked the gate
They try to steal the key
And threw away the key
They try to pick the lock.
And bolted the doors
They try to smash them down.
I braced them well.
Safe among myself.
