Sharing a piece of your soul
Is like giving a glass of wrought crystal
To a friend;
Full of wine so deeply red.

At first everything is fine,
Until they take a closer look
And see the blood clinging to the sides;
Hiding in plain view.

They throw it from them with revulsion
Forgetting to be careful
And the glass shatters into a million
Tiny daggers.

The wall are gone the wine leaks out,
Blood on the carpet of the world.
THe friend apologizes, embarassed - then,
Goes off to talk with someone else.

And you are left trying to pick up the pieces
While the glass embeds itself in your hands
And they won't come back together, not even
With superglue.

Even if you could get it back together,
How would you get the wine and blood from the carpet
THey stain so badly for all to see
You can't put it back together, and then they walk away.

*I don't drink, and drinking's a nasty habit: this is just for description purposes, don't take it the wrong way please.
