Eyes fluttering; closed
you yearn for sleep
you cannot have.
Longing deep within
for the unattainable
peace lingering
just beyond your grasp.
Weariness consuming you now;
you've gone so long
without a sign;
it's all you can do
to maintain your sanity.
" I'm sorry, "
reaches your ears
and you smile.
Eyes fully closed;
serenity has found you at last.
Breath fading,
gone.
