It was funny how whenever you look outside your window, all you see is a dirty, disgusting, and polluted world.  You know, trucks and cars zooming by, blowing dust into your face and everything.  Seung gazed drowsily out the plane window at the pure white clouds that threw themselves down to pave the way to Japan.  He looked behind him at the crystal path that led back to his home, Seoul.  Ahead of him, there unfolded the path to Tokugawa, Japan, where he would spend several months of his life.

Seung's father had to move to the Americas to deal with his business overseas.  His excuse to Seung that he couldn't him to America was because he already knew Japanese, and English would be hard on him.  'Does he really lie, thinking he can get away with it?' thought Seung.  The truth was that he wanted to dump Seung off into a faraway country where he'd never have to deal with him.  Yes, just a few months of freedom.

And for those few months of freedom, Seung would have to live with his aunt in Tokugawa and enroll into the first class of Tokugawa High.  Mrs. Yoon was a very kind woman, hardly like Seung's father at all.  She wasn't only asked to take care of Seung, but to get him back into line.  Seung was a good child, but in a bad environment; when he was small, his mother passed away and just a year ago, his best friend died in a car accident.  His father, being the only one Seung could turn to, wasn't that great of a comfort, and he resorted to secluding himself from others - being the troublemaker, as his teachers called him.

Seung shook his head, trying to get those annoying thoughts out of his head.  He tightened his grip onto his backpack, the only bag of belongings he had brought with him.  He looked ahead and thought to himself that it would be over before he knew it, but he never would've guessed that what he thought would be true.

Hands - The Leaves Are Falling

Immediately, Tomiko squealed.  Her hair flapped behind her neck like wings as she span around.

"You weren't listening to me!" Saki exclaimed, trying to get Tomiko's attention.  Saki was the most immature 12th grader she knew, but then again it must have been because she was her sister, "Don't worry, it's just a leaf."

Tomiko crossed her eyebrows in displeasure, "You made me think it was a bug."

Saki put up a saggy face with big bright eyes, and a frown that was half the size of her face. "B-but I just want to spend time with my dear little sister.  It's her first year in High School, and I want to spend sister-sister time with her..."

Tomiko knew the only reason Saki was walking with her to school that day was because her boyfriend couldn't pick her up that day.  With all of this in mind, she simply kept quiet and played along with her sister's games.

"Well as I was saying," Saki continued, "This is my LAST year in Tokugawa High... the memories are ending, and yours are JUST beginning...."

Walking a little ahead of her sister, Tomiko listened as Saki's words began to disintegrate into nothing but a blur.  Her eyes gazed along the morning scenery that surrounded her.  The warm rays of the sun clung onto the back of her neck, mingling with the air from the morning rain.  Birds came down from the trees and swooped into the air, floating on top of each other on wings of autumn.  The way the young chicks played in the air so gaily reminded Tomiko of the young days she'd leave behind.  She was no longer the little girl with big glasses, running around in circles with her ponytail dangling behind her.  Now, she was a big girl with bigger glasses with her ponytail running behind her as she walked to place she knew she was going to.

What was high school for Tomiko?  Three things: get straight As, get community service hours done, and manage to snag the presidential elections.  Love?  Hah!  There was no room for that.  Tomiko never planned to make any room for those silly things called High-School-relationships.  There were some people who just let their life go by, watching everything unfold in front of them, and others that had their life in the control of their hands.  Tomiko wasn't going to let her life slip out of her hands.

As the leaves crackled under her feet, she looked upon the giant campus of Tokugawa High.  Slowly, as she walked through the gates, Saki's voice began filtering back into her ears.

"...and believe me, that's what I said at first... but trust me, it NEVER works out that way.  Are you listening to me Tomiko?"

Tomiko nodded eagerly, almost leaning towards sarcasm.

"Saki!" A voice called from the left.

"Yuko!" Tomiko's sister answered her call.  "Alright, then I'm off.  Have fun at school Tomiko."

Tomiko sighed and waved.  Saki would never stop looking at her as a little girl, but she liked it that way.  That way, she could get away with more things.

Humming softly to herself, she broke through the crowd to the spot next to the pillar.  She had unusually come early that day, so she decided to surprise her friend.

"Good morning Tomiko." Asako greeted, leaning against the pillar.  She had one leg propped up against the wall to hold up her math book, and the other supporting her on the stone floor.

"Aww... you're no fun.  I was going to creep up behind you and push you over so you'd break your arm off and you wouldn't be able to ever play tennis again." Yes, Tomiko was bitter, "How'd you know I was there?"

"Don't you know?  I have magical powers that can sense when people are around me."

Tomiko gave her a disbelieving look, "Uhuh..."

Asako smiled, "Ne, I did a reading before school today."

           "Hmm?" Tomiko was slightly interested.

"Something fortunate will occur in the very near future.  An unexpected blessing will be delivered unto you, but disguised in a curse.  You will only find its true identity if you look deeper within.  If not, it may slip between the gaps of your fingers before your very own eyes."

Tomiko's pupils were like beads as her eyelids widened, "Huh?  That all just went over my head."

"Don't actually believe what I say, it's just the language.  Basically, something good is going to happen, but only if you think it's something good.  Keep your eyes peeled Nomura, or it'll slip by."

Tomiko raised an eyebrow suspiciously.  Something good eh?  Asako's fortunes weren't ever famous for being accurate, but something about her horoscope made her want to believe it.  Just a rumor from the wind; something was going to happen soon.  But she never knew that that special something would be something so beautiful, and horrendous at the same time.

Tomiko smiled as the breeze brushed the fallen, autumn leaves against her socks.  The leaves were falling, and the winds were changing.

A/N: Well, that's sort of a peak at what the rest of the story's gonna be.  I haven't introduced the guys yet, but yeah... this is basically one of those stories where there are two guys, and one girl... and you have no idea which one she's gonna get with (I really don't even know up until this point...  I'm figuring I'll just make her get with the guy my readers like more)  Well, I hope you stay to read the rest of this.  *cough* And don't feel afraid to review
