Loneliness

I feel sad in this world,

Of love and hate,

And loneliness…

Oh, the dark shadow of loneliness,

That lurks beside me each day.

The only true companion of all my life

The only one that has seen my true self

The one behind the mask,

That stares blankly through the holes

Which are my eyes…

It has seen

The feelings that stay inside of me

That are trapped inside a knot

Which grows bigger by each passing day

It knows of the times

That I’ve sat on my bed

Staring down at the floor

Salty tears flowing freely off my face

To land on the moonlit floor

It watches my false smile

Of joy and happiness

While inside

I’m burning with misery and hate

It knows my true self…

I’m afraid, can’t you tell

That you may not like the true me

For there are infinite sorrows

That burrow at my defenseless soul

Until…there’s nothing left

But an empty shell full of grief

So hurry and hold me tight

Before I cry myself

 Into a thousand pieces

Never to be put back again

And I will be lost past the end of time
