The bubbling brook is gone
Leaving an eerie quiet
The angry one has spoken
No one will defy it
The animals have fled
Leaves vanished from the trees
No chirp from the baby bird
Nor the blissful buzz of the bees
The stench of death is gone
As is the smell of life
The sound of silence so thick
Cut it with a knife
The lions have fled
The tigers, all gone too
Even the grass has disappeared
Color wiped from the sky of blue
Yesterday the men came round
With their tractors and their vans
It used to be a forest
Now it's just an barren plot of land
