The Name is the Same
“I hate Maria!” yelled a girl with light hair. She had nice brown eyes and she wore the school uniform. It was colored navy blue and white.
“Yeah, I know because she has the same name as you, right, Maria?” giggled her friend. She had dirty blonde hair and middle sized blue eyes. She, too, wore the uniform.
“Err! Don’t mention it! She thinks she is all that! She keeps reminding me that she’s the leader of the cheerleading squad and that if I want to join, try. Then she makes this ugly face at me! She acts like I’m an idiot who can’t do anything!” Maria screamed. The two girls were now on their way to school. It was a cold winter day.
“Well, that’s how she is. I don’t like her either, though, she’s like your evil twin,” laughed Laura. She hugged herself to make herself warmer.
“Evil twin is right! I’m the boss though!” Maria laughed along. Soon they both arrived at school. They were early. It was only 8:30 . 10 more minutes till they get to go inside.
They stopped and stood at their regular standing place to wait for the bell. They continued to talk about school and the events coming up until a girl with red hair came to them with her friends.
“Oh, and look who’s here, it is Miss Poor and her friend Loser Girl,” laughed the red head. That made her friends laugh too.
“Oh and who are you? Miss Porky? Oh, what’s this?”-Looks at her hair with disgust-“you made your hair look like a sauce you put on pigs before eating it! Oh well, I guess that’s why they call you Miss Porky, huh? Too bad,” ‘Miss Poor’ insulted back.
“Hehe, right, do I look fat to you? I’m, actually, skinny than you, Miss Poor,” the other Maria mocked. She crossed her arms, and then flipped her hair.
“Yeah, Miss Poor, get a life, Maria, here is totally the coolest girl around! Change your name, it is insulting Maria!” her best friend added. She had freckles and was a little shorter than her best friend. She was like Maria (Miss Porky)’s sidekick.
“Get a life, Teresa! You’re so low, you’re just a lowly sidekick of Maria’s, did you know that?” Laura yelled.
“You get a life, Loser Girl! My best friend is certainly not a sidekick! Maybe that’s how Miss Poor is treating you but Teresa is the best friend anyone could have!” Maria defended.
“Arg! Why you…” Laura never got to finish her sentence because the bell rang. Both sides glared at each other before going inside the school. The brunette and the blonde had the same first period class. The class was….
“I hate English class; I always fall asleep when Ms. Thomas teaches! She’s so boring!!” Maria exclaimed. The girls took a nearby seat.
“Not really, I enjoy the stories she reads to us,” Laura shrugged. They both took their notebooks out as a woman around her 30’s walked into the classroom. She had cherry red hair, natural color, and was always wearing dresses.
“Then fill me in today’s lesson later, I’m taking a nap,” Maria said as she took her English textbook out. She put it standing up to block the teacher’s view of her.
Laura giggled, “Okay but if you get caught it won’t be my fault.”
“Like I will, Ms. Thomas is always too into her reading to notice.”
“Okay, if you say so,” Laura said in a sing-song voice. Laura, then, looked at Ms. Thomas. She was holding a bunch of papers while writing on the board. Laura read what she wrote on the board. “Hmm…tests for careers…”
Her blue eyes went wide when she finally realized what it meant. She poked Maria to get her attention. “Psst, Maria! We’re having a test today!” Laura whispered loudly to Maria.
“We are?? On what?? I didn’t study!” Maria said sounding really nervous.
“No, not those tests! You know those tests you take to know what you will be when you grow up? Well, we’re taking that test today!” Laura told her.
“Those? Phew! You should have told me earlier, thank God! Well, it doesn’t matter, really. They’re not real.”
“What do you mean they’re not real? They are real! I mean I see no point in taking it if it’s fake.”
“They are, my parents took them and they didn’t end up being rich and famous,” Maria said shaking her head. She took her textbook down and sighed.
“Oh, then I’m not scared anymore, thanks for telling me!” Laura smiled.
Before Maria could say anything, Ms. Thomas spoke up. “Class, may I have your attention please?” she said tapping her ruler on the table to get everyone’s attention.
She got everyone’s attention after a few more “taps” on the table. “Good, now that I have everyone’s attention, I want to announce that today we’ll be taking…”

Meanwhile the other Maria and Teresa were at math class. Maria was double-lapping the lipstick on her lips while Teresa was looking through teen magazines.
“Are you sure this color is right for me? I have to look perfect, Michael has to love it,” Maria said. She pointed at her lips. The color was white. She also had white eye shadow on. It made her green eyes stand out more.
Teresa turned from her magazine to her best friend. “You look totally perfect, girl. You’ll win Mike’s heart a lot sooner than Miss Poor will…what am I saying? She doesn’t even stand a chance. You are his perfect girl,” Teresa smiled.
“Heh, you bet I’ll win his heart,” Maria smirked. She put her mirror and make-up away and looked at the door, knowing that Michael would pop up any minute. Like she expected, a while later, her dream boy came to view.
He had a grin on like everyday. He had light brown eyes and spiked up blackish red hair. He dyed some part of it. Maria ran her fingers through her hair again to make sure it’s neat and then waved at Michael.
Michael noticed the girl and walked over to her. He grabbed a seat and sat next to her. “Hey, Maria, what’s up?”
“Eh? Am I supposed to leave you two alone?” Teresa giggled. She was about to move her seat when a man came in. Darn! Just when we were about to have a conversation that stupid teacher shows up Maria thought madly.
He wore a suit and also squared glasses. “Good morning, class!”

At lunch Maria and Laura went to their regular seat and started to chat right away. “What do you think you’ll be? You know, the results of the test,” Laura said with excitement in her voice.
“Hmm…as long as it’s nothing bad anything will do,” Maria shrugged. Then a girl with really dark brown hair came to them. Her hair was so dark it looked like black. She had a serious expression on.
“Oh, hey, Rona!”-To her best friend-“I invented Rona to lunch with us today, you don’t mind, do you?” Laura asked.
“Not at all, sit, Rona,” Maria smiled. Rona nodded and took a seat next to Laura, the opposite side of Maria.
“Rona, this is Maria,” Laura introduced. Maria smiled at the dark haired girl.
“Yes, I know, Maria Pietrowski, correct?” Rona asked.
That shocked Maria, “Umm…yes, but I don’t remember you from any of my classes…”
“You are correct, we never had a class together, but I know who you are and that is all that matters right now. I am here to tell you something very important,” Rona began.
“Yeah, Rona is sorta like a fortune teller, she’s good!” Laura exclaimed. She was busy eating lunch; she got it while Maria and Rona talked.
“Oh, I see…okay…so, what is the thing you want to tell me?” Maria questioned. Now the brunette was really interested.
Rona waited for a second to pass before speaking, “I am here to warn you that something very horrible will happen to you tonight. Though, you will not find out until tomorrow morning.”
“Well, what is it?”
“I am sorry, that is all I can tell you, good day,” with that Rona got up from the table and walked away.
“Wha? Is she telling the truth?” Maria asked Laura.
Laura just finished lunch and threw the trash away, “I don’t know but she foretold my future yesterday and it was right, who knows, maybe luck? Anyway, don’t worry that much, Maria, I’m sure nothing too bad would happen to you tomorrow. I mean maybe you’ll get a stupid result in your career test but that’ll be it.”
Maria sighed, “Let’s just hope it’s only that.”

Maria Pietanza smirked. She was waiting patiently inside a small shop waiting for Michael. She kept looking at her watch, her heart beating faster every minute. It’s not a date but it’s close to one, wish me luck, God she thought crossing her fingers.
She continued to wait. After 10 minutes, she was really getting angry. She looked at her watch anxiously. Arg! Where are you, Michael?? Then her cell phone rang.
“Hello?” Maria answered. She was annoyed but kept glancing out the window anyway.
“Maria! This is Teresa, I got news that Michael is hanging out with a girl from Hamilton High!” Teresa told her through the phone.
Maria’s eyes went wide, “What did you say?!”
“I said that Michael is hanging out with another girl.”
“I can’t believe him! That loser! He dares to do that to me?? Do you know anything about the girl?” Maria asked. She was really angry now.
“Well…no, not yet but I’ll…”
“Then do so! I need the information and fast!” Maria yelled. She angrily cut the phone on Teresa.

The next day arrived. Maria Pietroski was sleeping peacefully in her bed. She was sleeping soundlessly. Everything seemed peaceful until her alarm clock rung. “Damn, it’s morning already?!” Maria sat up and rubbed her sleepy eyes. She walked to her standing mirror.
“Wow…I’m sure a mess today…my hair…”-eyes goes wide when she takes a closer look at her hair-“is red?? What-what happened??? I…”-notices her features were different but when oddly familiar-“I’m….Maria!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!”
Author’s Notes: Chapter 1, done. Did you guys like it? Hope so! Anyway, I want to tell you that there is no such school as Hamilton High, or maybe there is, who knows. Also, just so I don’t confuse you all, Maria Pietroski is the girl with brown hair and Maria Pietanza is the one with red hair. Yeah, sucks to have the same name and almost same last name as your enemy, huh? Lastly, they nickname each other by their initials, such as Maria Pietroski=Miss Poor. One more thing, I forgot what you call those exams you take to get a good idea what you’ll be when you grow up so I kinda left it the way it’s written in the fic, sorry! Okay, that’s all. ^^
