It’s hard to fly with sand in your wings

With broken dreams shattered along the beach

A million ideals, but no reality to rise upon

Glass steps to heaven cracked into tiny shards

The Tides of Time are merciless

Waves beating life with sorrow and pain

Everyday is a struggle to breathe above the water

Let alone soar above in cerulean skies

Careworn and weary of the world, I wander

Through tainted, transparent world

Seeking justice, a reason for my existence

A reason for the way things have to be

Is there an answer within these crystal waters?

Or is there nothing here but pain,

Eternal and unending like the waves

Crashing upon the borders of my soul?

I do not know when, nor do I know how

Bu I shall find love and truth in this Sea of Lament

And when I grasp them, ever-elusive inside

I shall soar once again, immortal and invincible
