Hello, My So-Called Friend

(You know who you are.)

You really don’t know me

Obviously

If you knew me

You’d know what it was like

To want to be hated

But not by your best friend

What a great birthday, huh?

I mean

What girl WOULDN’T

Want to be an evil bitch

On the day she turned fourteen?

And what girl WOULDN’T

Want her best friend to turn against her?

In a spectacular show of

Backstabbing glory?

What girl wouldn’t want

To suffer an intolerable unkindness

To lose the skin on the back of her heel

And her dignity as well

In one fell swoop?

You could have been kind to me

You could have showed one

INCH

Of decency

And stood by your friend

Instead of siding the boy

You don’t even like

Hello, my so-called friend

And how’s your life going?

(I was severely pissed when I wrote this poem…but I’m not so angry now. Don‘t worry, person, I‘ll forgive you. Eventually.)
