the unforgiving page

staring at me

i scribble my name in the top corner

all lowercase letters

because only

important nouns are capitalized

and i'm not one of them

it's a blank page

it doesn't know what i am going to write on it

a tale of true love and adventure

or a sad angst-ridden poem that is anti-humanity

i leave all the words in lowercase

show no emotion

face a mask of indifference

the words are nothing

broken letters and fragments

conveying nothing

not even sorrow

just empty

things are empty now

a smile

a pretty face

completely empty

a hollow brittle shell that

really used to care

but everything wore down

emptiness is bliss

but no emotion is felt

so emptiness is nothing

and nothing is

here
