Dated Januray 5th, 2004. This girl, or rather this woman, has found me camped out on the side of the road. I was a little surprised to see someone that wasn't dead. I got use to seeing the dead walk and they never ran. Not like she did. She told me she was Jenkins' fiance but he never said anything about her. When he spoke it was usually to himself or just confirm something. I don't know her name yet but I probably will whenever I ask for it. I rather not give my name away in case there might be somebody looking for me and wanting to kill me even though it's highly unlikely. I still like to play it safe and I'll let her do the same.
It's been so long without human contact I thought for sure I was the only one left. At first I thought she was a mirage or maybe my mind decided to fool with me but it didn't. I must keep her alive now. It's my main priorty for us both to survive this damned place. She looks so vulnerable but I can't be the judge of that. She had a gun with her and only half of the clip was full. It looks like I won't have to go at this alone now. I just want answers as to why this happened now.
There has to be more people out there if she was still alive and in the same city I was. I don't sleep very well now if at all. The slightest sound makes me wary and I feel like I can't hold on through the night. The day is barely a day now. Clouds cover the sky and never let up. Sunlight hasn't shown in what feels like years but it's a lot better than the night which leaves no stars in the sky or any pale moon. There will be more to go through before I find my answers but right now, I feel like I have all the time in the world.
Dated Janurary 10th, 2004. I'm getting a little more use to having that woman around me. I've been so alone I thought I'd die shortly. She keeps asking me questions about my life and what I did before becoming a policeman. I never did like to answer questions. I just like getting the answers. I only told her a few things and she kept trying to ask my name. I don't know what it matters to her what my name is but I thought Jenkins would've told her. Maybe he doesn't like to associate work and life into one. She stayed close by me most of the way along the road and started acting on her own slowly. It's good to see she can look out for herself.
I can see the next city ahead but it looks like it'll take quite a few of miles before we even get there. Traveling in snow is terrible and all the cars I checked in the past were either locked or wrecked. The city looks a little bigger than the one we were in and probably has more of those monsters inside. I just hope I don't have to run into them. The snow is thickening around the road and is becoming harder to travel on. It might take us a day to get there but as long as we don't die out here it'll be fine by me.
Dated January 11th, 2004. This isn't right. The whole place is empty. We checked the buildings and nothing moved or made a sound. There were no zombies or anything in any of the bbuildings or alleys. The place is completely empty but for us. I found a car that some gas in it and keys too. Heater works in it as well so I'm fine. I also found an ammunition store. I got my gun reloaded and her's too then dragged the biggest box I could find back to the car. Just because there weren't any zombies then didn't mean there wouldn't be any later.
The box weighed a good ton and took so much effort in putting in the trunk that I didn't need the heater afterwards. I know a few guns were in the crate with the ammo but I needed more. I gave a list of what I needed to Jenkins' ex-fiance and told her most of the boxes in there were labeled. She complied and after a couple of hours we were ready to go once we found something to eat. I'd been living off of frozen bread and water for a while then I stumbled across a fast food spot while in search. In the city I found a nice place and cooked some chicken myself for the both of us. Living alone had its benefits. I also made some rice when I found it and was about to make some pasta until I saw the expiration date which was when all this madness started.
-----
After our meal we headed out and took the car out of the city towards our next destination. If there had been a survivor in that city they would've certainly found us for all the noise we made trying to haul our supplies into the vehicle. The next city, or rather a town, was about twenty to thirty miles away. It would be a good time for both us to catch up on sleep and take turns driving. It still bothered me a good bit since there was nothing in that city. It was completely desolate and that just raised more questions.
Dated January 24th, 2004. We had a set-back. Our car broke down half-way to the town and it took a few days to fix. The supplies are still fine and the car seems to be better now. The town is just ahead and I can feel something. Like something's watching me but that's crazy. If something was watching me I'd know exactly where it was since I was trained to feel eyes. I just can't place it.
Dated January 25th, 2004. I was right. There was something watching me. I should say us but I doubt whatever it was really seemed to be interested in the woman. I saw a glimpse of whatever it was around a few buildings but that was it. I just hope that it isn't anything I can't handle. Usually I can manage on my own without help but that demon would've taken me out if it hadn't wanted to feel superior to me and just play around at first. Jenkins saved my life and in return I had to kill him. I feel like there's so much guilt hanging on my shoulders for doing it but he had a point earlier. If anyone was bitten it was best ot kill them then than rather have them live through so much pain and agony they turned out to be those mindless zombies. Yes, those are all over this town now. I'm not quite sure why they weren't anywhere in that other city but I guess they have to search for their meat somewhere besides one place. They have eaten their own and it makes my stomach turn when I see it. They act like they never eat or they have no stomachs since after a meal they just keep wanting more.
I noticed that they didn't just seem to want meat but something else. I just can't place it and it hurts my head when I start thinking too hard about it. Right now we're both safe inside a house near the center of town where we need to be. As soon as we find something to send out to the public communications we can start looking for more survivors. Right now, though, we need to find out why these things just don't seem to leave this place.
Febuary 18th, 2004. I never knew what hell always awaited me or what kind of shit I would stpe into. The last time I recorded I was trying to sound under control but it's too late now. The grip of reality has never felt so harsh as it does now.
-----
After a brief period of rest the sun came up earlier than expected. I wasn't ready to face anything but that never stopped me and I always needed to do what was best. We locked and blocked off all teh doors and windows in the one story house then found some food in cans which was very fortunate for us. This mystery woman seemed to be very content with sleeping in a big room full of windows and a door.
We were to search for survivors and food while we were here and since it was a small town it shouldn't take long. Most of the time was spent trying to keep the zombies away without using any ammo and it worked for a while. We used pipes and knives and pretty much anything else we could get our hands on.
After a while of fending off the undead while one of us went and scouted the area for any food until we got tired and retreated back to the house. For the oddest of reasons, I couldn't think of anything to really explain why the zombies weren't attacking like they usually did. They usually stood around outside and just continued to decay. I thought it was because maybe their brains just decayed too much and they didn't have any motor skills left. I was wrong.
It didn't take long for them to gather in a mass and head directly to the house. Every single one of them started banging their arms or even their heads against the windows and doors. What made them suddenly start this was also beyond my comprehension. For such a small town there were sure a lot of the undead walking around.
I found a ladder to the attic in the hallway and lead the young woman up with me then pulled the ladder up just incase these things actually could climb. Our supplies were safe in the car and there was no reason for the zombies to just attack it. I found a light bulb hanging from the roof and pulled the string to illuminate the area. It was covered in dust and looked like nothing has touched it in over hundreds of years. There was a small window looking out to the road in front of the house as well. I took it upon myself to go and check out what was happening now. The once desolate road was covered in walking masses of rotting flesh. Not a damn thing to do about it either.
We both decided that maybe we should try and wait it out. Neither of us could wait that long and our car was only ten to fifteen feet from the house. I opened the ladder or door thing that led up to the attic and gave her signal to go. She leaped down and aimed her pistol in every direction while I made my way down. The first zombie almost snuck up on us from the closet. I should've known since it was open but thankfully the stench gave him away and we quickly put him down. There were a few more in the house but nothing serious. We got to the car just in time to be overrun by the living dead. I didn't want to risk getting any of their blood or anything on me incase the infection or whatever it was could travel through skin. I used the handle of my pistol to hit a few of the nearest ones in the head. Teeth went flying and eyes came loose with each hit on their skull. Some even had their heads cave in from the force of the blow probably because of so much deterioration of the body. Finally she got enough time to get in and start the car and that's when I leaped in and slammed my door shut.
Only a few of the things latched onto the car but quickly slid off the hood or wherever they tried getting on. She drove for a few minutes speeding past everything until coming to a stop in front of a chapel. The building was huge! This town may have been small but they sure were into their religion. "Take some ammo and maybe a spare gun," I told her. She nodded silently and took the keys with her. I chose a shotgun, very similar to the one I used when Jenkins and I were trying to escape the city. I grabbed a handful of extra shells and dropped them into my pockets in my trenchcoat. Every weapon was fully loaded to make sure we don't get caught off guard too bad.
I was the first the enter to gigantic double doors and see rows of bleachers completely empty. There was a depiction up front nar the top of the wall showing a cross in stain glass. I checked behind me to see if Jenkins' still living woman was following me. She had two pistols with her instead of carrying a rifle of some sort. It was smarter in more ways than one. She slowly looked around and saw me staring at her then straightened up a bit. "What?" she asked. I shook my head and grinned to myself as I continued forward. I was sure that there would be a few people here in such a crisis. Many people look to God as their savior and I guess they should in some ways but maybe they gave up hope. Maybe they thought they were being punished by God. Either way it didn't make a difference on me. I just wanted to find some survivors so maybe they can tell me something I don't know.
We took a couple minutes to check the rest of the church and there wasn't anything in here. Not even a single zombie, though there was quite a few blood stains on the bleachers and the walls. Not long after I set my shotgun down and took a brief rest on one of the front bleachers. I watched as Ms. Unknown kneeled and prayed before the altar. It looked like she still had some faith and so did I. I just find it better not to waste time to show it. We talked for a while about how we remember Jenkins and what kinds of food we both like. It wasn't long after I heard something I wished I never would've heard again. It was a long and high-pitched screeching noise like a scream. There was certain wave to it that sent chills down my spine and made my heart pump faster than it should. I slowly and quietly grabbed my shotgun and clicked off the safety then waited and listened. Not a sound after that and I straightened myself up then looked at my traveler. She looked as frightened as I felt and opened her mouth to say something but stopped short of herself. I followed her eyes and gasped at the huge silhouette in the stain glass window. With no more than a split second the glass blew out of the frame along with the dark shape that caused it. I covered my face with my arm and lowered it as soon I knew the glass stopped.
There it stood. That demon that caused all this! No, this one was different. It's eyes were filled with rage and the iris seemed to let off an eerie red glow. It arched it's back and howled that ear-splitting sound once again. I didn't waste any time and raised my shotgun at waist level then fired off a couple shells and watched the beast stumble backwards a bit. "Run..," I told her. She looked confused and asked me, "What?" I turned around and looked in her eyes then said it as sternly as I could, "Run!" She nodded and ran out of the church and towards the car. I had to take care of the damn demon before I run off. It needed to die. The thing was still alive and started pushing itself up letting it's blood pour out of it's fresh wounds. It didn't seem to mind it at all either. The blood looked like ink it was so dark. Then it screamed again but this time it was much lower and sounded pissed.
I fired more slugs into the beast's chest until I used all the preloaded shells in the shotgun. The thing was still standing but looked weakened a bit. I tosed the shotgun aside and drew my Colt aiming at the beast's head then fired only two shots before I was hit and sent flying across huge chapel. I landed and skid for a short bit then looked up to see Ms. Unknown holding both pistols out and looking down at me. She told me to get up and grab my gun then glared at the demon and unloaded both pistols into it. The thing snarled and jolted from each shot but nothing to stop it or slow it down too much. I found my pistol under one of the bleachers and dove for it then rolled over on my back and fired every shot directly at the thing's head.
Dark crimson blood squirted out of it like it sprung a leak and even more seemed to be all over the floor making the red carpet look black itself. I reloaded quickly and started firing again then sighed a relief as I heard two pistols firing and more shells hitting the tile. It took about five minutes of complete insanity trying to bring that monster down but we finally did it. He went down with a loud grunt and shook a bit then convulsed. I had to make sure this thing was dead. I got up and walked over to the body then placed my foot on it's chest feeling it sink in a bit from so many bullets pounding it. I just needed to wake up but I couldn't. I raised the pistol and leveled it to the monster's head and fired off the rest of my clip.
As I took my foot off I found something that disturbed me more than ever. This ting had fought before or something. It had another wound but there was something very wrong with it. Someone or something had stitched it up. I'm not sure which but I know I have to find out since I asked for it. I just don't know how someone could do something like that for such an ungodly creature. I guess I was staring at it too long and Jenkins' ex came up to me asking what was wrong. I had no choice and told her then pointed to the stitches.
She didn't seem to show any signs of being disturbed about them but maybe she felt tougher if she didn't express it. It was true for some people. "So you think someone might be helping these things?" she asked. I didn't know if to say yes or no since either one could cause trouble. I just shook my head and told her I didn't know now but I'd do my best to find out. She seemed content with that and walked towards the car while reloading her pistols.
I went back and grabbed my shotgun then started loading cartriges into it as I headed out of the chapel. If there was a person behind all of this there was a bullet with thier name on it and I had it waiting. One person couldn't do all this by themselves and if they could then it might be harder to track them down. Before I stepped out of the chapel I turned around and prayed a silent prayer then headed back to the car.
As I opened the door I heard something screaming in the distance. At first I thought it was another demon so I got my shotgun ready and stared in the direction it came. After a few minutes nothing happened then I heard it again and saw a man waving his arms and running like hell towards us. I gave my new partner a nod and tossed the shotgun into the back seat then headed towards the panicing person to meet him halfway. I don't know why but for some reason I felt a little uneasy when I got closer to this man. He stopped right in front of me and fell to his hands and knees panting. I grabbed him and pulled him to his feet then tried to get a glimpse into his eyes to see if they were dilated. First thing he did was slap my hands away from him and fall over once more. If he wanted to live he'd have to cooperate.
I grabbed him by his arm this time and yanked him up again then grabbed his head and made sure he was alright. "I heard shots! Was it you?!" he asked panting even heavier. I nodded and started to tell him what had happened but he quickly pushed me aside and ran towards Jenkin's ex and the car. She moved around to meet him and he quickly shoved her aside as well. Whatever he wanted it wasn't our help. I ran towards him as he started to pry open the trunk. We hadn't bothered to lock it since we might be in an emergency for it like earlier. He grabbed the first gun he saw and aimed it at us keeping a firm grip on it. "Back off! I want to know if you're one of them!" he demanded. Both of us stared at him in confusion then shook our heads. He hit his fist on the trunk hood making us both jump slightly then began rambling about how he was holed up in a basement for about three or four months. His clothes looked like he took a bath in them and the ends were tattered.
I noticed something else about him at that moment too. He forgot to turn the safety off. I dove for his waist and tackled him against the car pretty hard. Hard enough to knock him out cold and drop the gun without a fuss. We may be an emergency to quickly grab a gun but safety is always first unless there's no other alternative. "So what do we do with him?" she asked. I shrugged and told her I didn't know but we might find a few answers from him if we try hard enough. She nodded and helped me lift him onto the back of the car.
-----
The next day he woke up and seemed a lot less scared around us. He let us check his pulse and everything and didn't bother to shove us out of the way for another gun. This man might have some serious mental problems. One day he's insane and wanting us dead but the next he knows we're helping. He was friendlier than what he was and helped with anything we needed to be done. I showed him the corpse of the demon that we killed and he just seemed to nod in agreement that it was dead. He wasn't scared or frightened at all from it.
He was hiding something but I just couldn't figure it out. Maybe he was a secret agent and just wanted to act like he never was. A lot of things could have been the answer but the truth was even worse.
It wasn't long before he started getting hsyterical again and statrted mumbling things aloud to himself about creatures from the Moor. He probably got confused with Beowulf to real life but then again it asn't far from the truth. Monster had been terrorizing this world now and I guess I was the only savior of it. If so then I hope I'm ready for anything else that tries to fuck with me.
He suddenly snatched my pistol from my hand when I wasn't watching him and held it to his head screaming as loud as he possible could. I tried calming him down and telling him he was safe but all he did was shake his head and twist the barrel of the Colt against his temple. He clicked the safety off and slowly started squeezing the trigger then suddenly I heard Her voice from behind the car. "Stop! We aren't trying to hurt you! If you really think we were trying to kill you we would have already done that!" she said. I was trying to get up and a loud report thundered in front of me. The guy fired off a shot in the air as a warning to himself mainly. I stood up and looked to Jenkins' ex-fiance then nodded to her and looked at the ground near her feet. There was a large rock about the size of a child's fist next to her left foot.
"Listen!" I yelled at crazed man. He looked startled from my voice but then again I did have deep voice. I tried calming him down by explaining why he was still alive and told him how he found us while She bent down and picked up the rock stealthily. "I'll fucking do it!" he warned and pushed the gun to his head even harder. Without hesitation She threw the rock and nailed him right between the eyes causing him to fly back a bit with blood flowing out of his nose. As soon as it started it was over. He quickly regained his balance and said in a quiet voice, "I didn't do it!" then put the gun back to his head then cringed before he pulled the trigger sending off a single bullet through his skull. An instant flashed and blood sprayed the ground next to him along with more than enough of his brain to tell he was dead.
Sighing, I took my pistol from his hand then clicked the safety back on and holstered it in my chest holster. I kicked him over so his face was towards the sky then leaned down and closed his eyelids for him. Well that was one way out of this nightmare and I've considered it more than often but maybe I'm destined to save this world from such a Hell. I didn't even have time to judge him for who he really was. I only knew him for two days and one night. I decided to check his pockets and see if he had any form of I.D. on him which he luckily did. At least I could make a grave for a Mr. Justin Reese. There was another thing his pocket along with his wallet. It was a contract of some sort with a biochemical lab about thirty or so miles West. Maybe that'd explain what his last words meant. I looked over at Jenkins' ex to see how she was handling it. Apparently not very well. She had her face buried in her hands and was weeping quietly. I took some time quietting her down and putting my arm around her to try and comfort her a bit. She said she didn't know why someone would want to commit suicide just to escape this place when there were people still here.
I didn't know that answer either but suicide was always an option in my opinion. It didn't matter if it was the easiest task, just some days you can't face it all at once. After a while I showed her the contract and told her we should go. She agreed and wiped her eyes then started checking the guns in case any have either frozen to be rendered useless or rusted from the ice and snow that usually got into the trunk. I took a trip back into the church and dragged along the dead man's body then set it down on a bleacher with a golden cross in his clasped hands. I didn't have time to carve his name into the seat so I left his I.D. on the seat near his head hoping they won't be frightened by both bodies in the church to find out who he is.

Febuary, 2004. I can't remember the days anymore but I know it's Febuary still cause many have passed since the horrible incident with the demon and the suicidal man. It's hard to remember the good times when so many bad things happen. I can't see how it was possible for that guy to still be alive just to find us and kill himself. Life is hard, yes. But life seems to bearing down onto me almost everyday. Jenkins' ex has been rather fine and very conersational for a while now. I don't know how long she'll hold on but hopfully until I found out what I need then she can start herself a knew life.
We've passed a few shelters that only held rotting flesh and piles of bones that seem to have been torn apart. They did hold some of the survivors until one of those things got to them. We're stopping in at every town and city for anyone who many still be alive and well enough to help us. Absolutely none so far. All hope is not lost yet but it is slimming down to a thread.
-----
We arrived at the nearest city and found only more dead bodies and zombies. I'm not completely sure but if there were two of those demons there are bound to be a whole lot more. The zombies were especially active when they were near. I found out the hard way that it doesn't matter about how active the zombies get.
I took the hotel and told Mrs. Unknown to take the houses since they were the easiest to check. Inside the hotel no lights were on and it seemed that there was nothing even near alive from the looks of it. The front desk had a circuit breaker behind it so I decided to fiddle around with it until I got at least hall lights on. I found a Bible in every room so took one since help becoming more and more desperate for me. Only a couple zombies roamed the first few floors then there was nothing. Boards covered a few windows from who knows what and almost all the doors were locked. Still, nothing stopped me checking to see if someone survived this hellhole. I occasionaly yelled to see if someone would reply to me or maybe I'd hear feet scuffing against the floor boards. This hotel was really old since it looks like the only tile was found in the bathroom and the lights flickered too often.
Every board I stepped on creaked a tiny bit but never enough to make me wary. A few times or more I heard something on the floor above me but I wasn't sure if I really heard it or my mind was laying tricks. I was somewhere around the fifth or sixth floor when I heard it again. I couldn't describe it well enough but it sounded like something walking only it had large nails or something rapping against the floor with each step. I decided to quiet down just in case. The elevators were unoperational so I had to take the stairs and it did get tiresome after a little while but I managed to keep going. Nothing seemed too out of place but I did pass by a few mirrors and found out I needed a haircut. It's been a while since my last one and I just seemed to have forgotten even though my hair did reach my eyes a little. Just never enough to bother me. I also needed to shave but not as bad as I needed a haircut.
When I went back to the stairs I chose to take them up slowly and quietly since whatever it was up there certainly didn't sound human. My hunch was that it was another one of those damn demons. I only took my pistol with me instead of another gun like Jenkins' ex did. She always kept two pistols near her at all times since she saw her first demon. My second one. I peeked my head around the door and glanced around at the empty room before me. It looked just the same as the others I've been in. There it was again. That same sound I heard below this floor. It sounded like long nails tapping on boards but what me worried was that it sounded like it was in the same room as me.
Nothing on the ceiling, the floor, or even against the walls. What was that sound? I took my little investigation further into the room until I saw a glimpse of something run across the doorway. That's where the tapping sound came from. I stood still a moment longer then walked over to the door and put my back against the wall next to it. The sound stopped. I tapped the door open cringing at the squeeking and rusty hindges. Well whatever was in there now knew it wasn't alone. I took my time and counted to ten then spun around to the doorway only to come face to face with a big brutish beast. The thing snarled and curled what lips it had revealing it's shining teeth with jagged edges. It looked just like the other two I came across. With no longer than a split-second hesitation it lifted one mighty arm and thrusted it forward knocking me back through the previous room and into the hall, rolling into the wall adjacent to him.
My head hurt as well as my chest and back but I couldn't complain about pain right now since the ting started towards me from across the room. It lurched it way straight towards me and took one after another of it's gigantic steps digging it's claws into the floorboards beneath bringing up splinters and the such. I could hear it growling and almost hissing it felt like it was so close. Something else made a sound. It was from the stairs. She couldn't be coming now! This thing would murder her in an instant. I had to get up! It took all my strength to push myself up the wall and stand about eight or ten feet away from the demon. My pistol was still in hand, thank God. I didn't let go of it during the hit dealt to me and luckily didn't pull the trigger either. I raised my arm and took aim as fast as I could. This thing must know about guns since when I brought my arm up it let out a sickening screech and arched it's back. I fired once. Twice. Three times; all aimed the thing's head and each one making contact. One hit right above it's left eye and the other two nailing the flat and slick surface of it's forehead. It didn't bring it down but it sure stopped it long enough for me to yell. "Don't come up! There's another demon thing in here!" I screamed to Her. She must've heard since the next thing I knew a Beretta 9mm slide across the floor to my feet.
My chance to fight this thing one on one was now. I snatched up the pistol with my free hand then aimed both weapons at it and began firing simultaniously hitting the brute in his chest and head sending hot burning metal into it's slick skin. Jets of black blood erupted from every wound and pools of it stained the wooden floor. It let out one more scream then shook violently like when a dog shakes itself dry. More blood went flying across the room and coated it almost completely. Bits of it hit me as well making me worry since this blood could probably infect me if it was absorbed through the skin. It thankfully didn't. It stared at me once my pistols drew only empty air. The smell of gunpowder was now overpowering the stench of this beast and the decaying building. It was as if the demon shook off all it's pain and now it was ready for round two. There was no possible way I could outrun such a monster. I took the next best thing and decided to either die now from it or about ten seconds later after trying to escape.
I dropped the pistols and took two leaping steps then jumped into the air and threw my arms out hitting the demon right in the stomach and tackling it completely, knocking it backwards and landing hard. I got up almost immedietly and jumped up again but this time, I drew both my hands together and slammed them down on the demon's chest. There was a crack but I was too foolish to know exactly what it was before it was too late. The floor gave way and both, the brute and I, went tumbling to the floor below. The first few seconds were a blur and confusion until the end where I found myself half-way in a bathroom tub. My head felt warm and my right arm was throbbing in pain. I couldn't stop now. That thing had to be brought down! I pushed myself out of the tub and blinked a few times wondering if my eyes were playing tricks. There was fresh blood in the tub and when I checked my head there was a small gash. New, fresh pain stung my skull and buried itself deep within once my finger found the wound. Infection could easily get in there but the blood has matted down a bit of my hair so maybe I'll be safe I thought.
I turned around and saw the demon laying on it's back and groaning to itself. The thing turned on it's side and propped it's body up then leaped to it's feet in a snap. My trench coat was covered in dust from the boards and small splinters. The brute was also covered in dust from our fall but we both seemed ready to continue our fight. It took one giant leap at me with it's arm extended along with the talons at the end of it. I dropped to the floor and felt the wind rush over me then heard a loud crash as the thing burst through the wall behind me and toppled over it's own feet. I lifted my head and checked behind me to see the beast starting to get up once more and to his left was Jenkins' ex. I thought she was out of the building but I was wrong.
I got up and ran to her as fast as I could and demanded her pistol. She hesitated and stared at the monster regaining his balance then handed it to me quickly. "Run!" I yelled at her and she took no time doing exactly what I said. I was just about to turn around when the beast grabbed the back of my head, actually, all of my head from the back. I could see the claws around my cheeks and from above my eyes and thought death was taking me once and for all. The beast quickly pulled his arm back and turned it so I faced him. Now I stared at death face to face once more but this time he had a bigger advantage. It snarled and opened it's maw wide enough to swallow half of me in one gulp. I raised my pistol and threw my arm in it's open mouth then aimed it upwards and gave the beast a nice good-bye saying. "Fuck you!" I yanked the trigger back and held it down firing one bullet after another up into it's skull. Blood ran down the back of it's throat causing it to gag and giving me time to pull my arm back out just he dropped me. I quickly took my safest steps backwards and watched the creature writhe in it's own misery, choking on it's own blood, loosing it's own battle. I felt no pity for it and also didn't give a shit how it died just as long as I got to see it. The thing dropped to the floor and let out gurgling screams then eventually fell still.
I don't know how big their brains are but they must be pretty small if I can unload half of a clip into their head without hitting it. I walked over to the body and gave it a good kick to the side then let out a sigh of relief. I should show her I won. I felt the need to so I grabbed the nearest sharp object, which was a butcher knife thankfully, and thought about what to do. I couldn't take it's head since it really didn't have much of a neck. Then I thought of something and smiled to myself as I hacked away at it's right arm.

When I got outside a few minutes later I saw that I was missed. She ran towards me and stopped almsot as fast as she started, staring down at what my hand was dragging along. It was the whole right arm of the beast and I felt like gloating for winning the battle with it. It took her a while to get it but she smiled eventually and lightly moved some of my bloody hair away. "We need to patch that up," she said, smiling. I nodded and followed her to the car while still dragging the arm, claw, and shoulder and all.
Maybe this whole thing is seeming a little too much like that story but it's a hell of a lot better than rotting to death with no way knowing when exactly you're dead like those zombies. I dropped the arm and cringed as the disinfectant was poured into the wound. It hurts like hell no matter how old you are and you never seem to get over it. She used some gauss and told me it'd be fine as long as I didn't disturb it. I told her thanks and kicked the arm away from me. I didn't want to see it anymore. It's best to leave bad memories behind and nto drag them with you.
March, 2004. It's been a slow pace going from town to town or whatever but we have found more supplies. Still no survivors from what I can tell. My wound is almost completely healed and Jenkins' ex gave me a nice haircut the other day. Life is getting simpler but not any better. That place that was in Mr. Reese's pocket should be the next few towns over. I hope I can find some answers there about the sitches in that thing. And what did he mean by, "I didn't do it?" I guess if fate allows me to know it'll happen but for now I think it's best to try and deal with what's happening around me instead of thinking about future revelations.
Either way I have to know. Things are getting a lot more tense and more zombies are around these areas. We haven't ran into another demon yet but when we do, we'll be ready. I just hope that there's still somebody else out there. If not then there doesn't really seem to be a reason to go on anymore...
