We are

All black

Sheep

Black sheep spray-

Painted white amidst

The grey

Wolves

one sheep stands

his

wool looks

like denim

overalls

and a shirt

his forehead glistens with

sweat from

walking the field

surveying his brothers.

These same brothers

Who want to be him,

Who claim to be like him,

Holding the stick,

To be called, “shepherd”

Yet really

they’re happy just

the way they are.
