Worrying?

Your cologne can be smelt all the way down stairs. You can hear your sister laughing at this. It’s not menacing laughter though, you understand. She just finds your nervousness amusing. But you can’t help it. You can’t help but be nervous; after all, tonight is the night you finally get to go out with your crush of the past two years.

It’s taken you all night (and most of the past week), to pick out the perfect outfit. But now, looking at it whilst it’s on you, you’re not quite sure it’s the right outfit for this occasion. He told you to dress casual, but is that your casual, or his casual? You’re not even sure if you’ve got casual clothing…

But you’re not going to dwell on that, after all, he’s going to be here in less than fifteen minutes and you’ve still got to put the final touches to your hair, find your shoes and then make it look like you haven’t been worrying for the past three hours…

But then you hear the doorbell and all of that planning goes out of the window, because now you know you have to worry. He’s early. You’re not finished getting ready, but it’s too late. You can hear his deep laughter filling the hallway as he talks to your sister.

You’re very jealous all of a sudden. After all, you are the same age as each other. Twins. And she has been known to flirt with past crushes; she’s even dated a few…

But then you see his smiling face come into view as you step down those final stairs and all of your jealousy flies right out of the window. He’s stunning. You can tell he’s made an effort…and then he sees you and all of your worrying pays off because the grin you receive in return for what you’re wearing makes your heart skip a beat and you know that it will be all worth it. He’s worth it.

As you mumble your goodbyes to your sister, his hand in yours, you feel the blood rushing to your face. His eyes haven’t left you yet. And when the door closes and you’re left alone together for the first time…it doesn’t matter, because this was meant to be.

You’re no longer nervous. As he leads you to his car you can’t help but think of how perfect this is. Your first date with the guy you’re pretty much sure you love, you know he loves you. He told you just before asking you out…

Best friends for life…well, that’s what you were supposed to be. But you know you’re more than best friends now…much more and you wouldn’t change a thing. Even if it means every time you see him, you’re going to worry like you did tonight, because after all, he’s worth it.

A/N.  I know it’s short…but it’s supposed to be. cough
