Twisted Moon

The sun is eclipsed by a twisted moon,
A strange revolution around the world.
People look up; they stare and wonder;
For in the sky, like a banner unfurled

That twisted moon spins and shines
Eclipsing the sun and shadowing stars;
There is no hope for those below,
The moon soon marred by heavenly scars.

A cloak of black engulfs the earth
Painting and filling each worldly line;
Shadows and darkness last evermore
Persisting in our eyes for all of time.

As that darkness blooms overhead
No soul speaks a word or sheds a tear,
For those forsaken are held in place
By that cold and creeping celestial fear.
