A sweet September sky,
full of sky blue pink
and other mystical colors.
Cotton candy clouds
melt away.
A pale yellow sun
slides below the horizon,
ushering in the cool,
calm night
Children enjoying their
few precious play hours
after school
now scury inside
before the darkness
comes bringing with it
the creepy crawlies
and nightmare monsters.
Parents lovingly tuck
the children into bed
with wishes of
sweet dreams and
warnings not to let
the bedbugs bite,
before sauntering off to
enjoy some quiet time.

Stars appear in the
now cornflower blue sky
as adults sit back
and think of times
gone by.
They remember coming
in before dark
and wishing they could
stay out just to
see the creepy crawlies
and nightmare monsters.
Just then the
man in the moon appears
using his sly grin
and mischievous shine
to tempt them out.
The night is crisp and clear
and the adults take
the moon up on
his intriguing off
and out the door
they go.
To frolic in the moon
as they once frolicked
in the sun.
