My dear little sister,
You have pushed
The limits of my patience
Far too many times
For me to count.

All those times
You've hurt me,
Lashed out at me
Physically, emotionally, mentally,
I have barely been able to
Contain my anger
And my urge to strike back.

From these experiences,
I have bottled up
My anger, my upset, my pain,
And corked the floodgates of
My most powerful emotions.

Many a time
Have my emotions leaked
From behind that cork.
My patience is wearing thin
As we confront each other
Our faces showing
Our utmost anger.

Then at the same time
We crack a smile
And laugh uncontrollably
Despite our desire
To keep a straight face.

The tension vanishes
Our anger melts
Our resolve fades.

We laugh at each other
Wondering why
We were so angry
With each other in the first place.

Is this what it means
To be a sister?

I can live with that.
