Believe…

Faith,

Its final boarding call,

Rings shrill and loud to withered ears,

And cowering figures look away.

Tense,

To afraid to be left alone,

To afraid to face the rest of life,

To afraid to do something about it.

Bitter,

Your faith has faltered.

You believe in anything,

But what needs most.

Convinced,

You’re all alone,

You cut, you bleed,

But it makes no difference.

Hands,

Outstretched in sympathy,

Are nothing,

Mean nothing,

Remain nothing,

When you refuse to believe.
