SHADOWS
The Elements

Shadows, they're everywhere not just the one you make but the darkness the surrounds us everyday. Our demons, fears, and evils clashing with the dreams, hopes, and goodness of life. A never ending war that surrounds us throughout our lives. But what if there was one battle between two people where the winner could end this war forever? This is that story. This is my story.

It all began when I moved from San Francisco to New York City. I didn't like it, I don't know why but I didn't like it I wasn't leaving any friends. Yeah I'm a loner. The kinda girl that you find wrapped up in a book instead of conversational gossip with her friends. I'm not ugly, I'm 5'9, slender with long dark brown hair and hazel eyes, but people tend to avoid me. When I was younger they thought I was a vampire or something like that because I have very pale skin. I like space though it gives me time to practice my talents; I'm an element witch, a very powerful element witch.

There are many types of witches but elements are the most powerful. But all witches can do simple tricks like move things with our minds and turn invisible. And we all have animal guardians. But element witches can use the earth's most powerful forces which in turn makes us stronger then your average witch. My mom's family is famous for their hypnotism powers, and my dad's family are the masters of flight so that makes me a hypnotizing, flying element witch. Ha, that makes me weird even by magic standards, but I'm probably boring you with my life history so I will continue with the real story.

I finally got settled in my new room in my new house around mid August. My room was completely black despite my parents being on the Light side but they knew it wouldn't last with my creativity. I could already see it, I would paint it to look like a night club and put up colored lights, but before I did this I had to worry about what to get for school. Mom was taking me to one of the malls for clothes because "we're not Californians anymore" she has a problem with fitting in. so I shopped and suffered through my mom's enthusiastic "Isn't this the cutest." Barf. Then school started along with all of my problems.

I had made it through half of the first day, I had successfully found all of my classes and the library, and was sitting at a table at lunch when they came. I had been drawing my guardian, a blood red viper, stalking some prey when they sat at the table and stared at me. There were five of them all boys. Two of them were identical twins both had long black hair, all of the group had long black hair and pale skin, the twins were the second tallest of the group they were the same height as me, had steel gray eyes and slightly muscular. You could only tell them apart by the fact that one had a rather large scar running across his left cheek. They were on either side of me. The person on the left of the person across from me seemed to be the shortest and scrawniest with brown eyes so he was probably the brains or the money. The person to the right of the person across from me had a kind demeanor despite his rather frightening looks. He was slightly more muscular than the twins and had a face destroyed by scars but his eyes were a kind blue and he had a friendly smile which encouraged me to try to make friends with him but then I saw that he was fondly fiddling with a rather large chain in his hands. The person across from me was apparently the leader being the tallest and the most muscular. His hair was more silky looking than the rests and had black eyes like bottomless pits. But he was handsome.

"You're a new face. Allow me to introduce myself and my friends." He said with a voice that seemed a smooth as his silky hair. "This is Criss and Bryan Bremen," He said gesturing to the twins then to the skinny one, "this is Artemis Tran, my good friend Gray Boulder," he pointed to scar-face, "and I am Shadow." "What no last name?" I sneered. "No just Shadow, my last name is known only to the dead." He countered with an amused tone, "But do you have a name?" "I'm Kristine Tarros." I said shortly reconsidering the thought of leaving the table when, as if reading my mind, both the twins grabbed my shoulders keeping me from getting up. "No if you're a good little girl and don't want to get in any trouble you'll listen to us," Criss said in her ear, "No one disobeys the Shadows." "That's right." Bryan whispered into her other ear, "So sit, stay and listen. You might be able to help us with something." As he made this last remark he wrapped his arm around her waist. "Bryan, Criss. Where are your manners?" Shadow remarked playfully at the twins antics. By now I wanted desperately to leave. Bryan's hand was sliding down into the side of my pants and Criss was running his hand on the inside of my thigh. "Get off of me you bastards." I hissed through clamped teeth. Shadow smirked at me then nodded to the twins. The room began to spin and darkness surrounded me. That's when I knew that I had fallen into the clutches of the shadows.
