Chapter One
the world and Sky

The horrific scene played out before my eyes. Demons were attacking, they weren't killing us though. I watched as many of the others were shrunken down and caught one by one in small glass jars. They took those of us they shrunk away, and then they turned to me. I looked around for something to aid myself with, but found nothing. When I turned to look back I felt myself shrinking. The world seemed to tower above me as it gradually darkened. What were they planning? To simply get some of us out of the way? To make our army smaller so they would have an advantage? I couldn't imagine, and then, I couldn't think. My mind felt like it was loosing that ability, like it was loosing everything. The last thing I saw was a glass jar surrounding me. Then I heard a scream. I soon realized it was my own. I managed to stop myself and looked around my home. Everything was as it should be, my bed of leaves, my stash of berries and nuts, everything. It had all been a dream, just a terrible dream. And yet, it had all seemed so real and familiar.
I shrugged it off, just a dream and nothing more. Like any of that would be real! I stretched out my wings. They were slightly jagged at the ends with blue edges and yellow on the rest. My hair was blond and layered. I wore a tan shirt that was slightly long and covered up to my thighs, the edges torn, and blue star patterned pants that covered my legs completely including my feet. I walked out of the small hole in the tree and out onto the branch. I live in a hollow, not a large one but big enough for a fairy my size. I looked up at the sky, wondering what color my eyes were at the moment. The sky was clear so my eyes would be a deep blue. There were a few clouds streaking across the vast blue and I added them to my mental picture of what my eyes would look like. My eyes are never one color like other fairy's are, they change depending on what the sky looks like.
My mind ventured back to the dream I had just had. That wasn't the first time; I had been having them every so often, almost frequently. I had told some of my friends about the unique dreams, to see if they had had any similar ones. They hadn't, none of them have. I leaned inside and grabbed a blueberry to eat. Then I flew to a small stream that I had always liked. The best thing about this stream was that there were small pieces of glass, smoothed by the water, under the water on the bottom of the stream. They made the stream glisten more than it would without them. And yet, there was always something familiar about them, it gave me a feeling that almost seemed like terror to sometimes look at them.
"Sky!" I turned to look at the person calling my name. Then smiled
"Hey Maple." I called over.
Maple flew over and landed on the bank next to me. "I knew you'd be here. HEY GUY'S SHE'S OVER HERE" she put on a smug grin as my other friends flew over. "Told ya she'd be here." Maple had light green wings with dark green around the edges. She wore a short green dress and green and white striped pants, also covering her feet. She had auburn hair and green eyes.
"Yea, you were right. So? We all knew she would be here Maple it's not that surprising. She's ALWAYS here in the morning." That was Violet. Her wings here violet with green edges. She wore a short auburn dress with light purple sleeves, collar, and fringe she didn't have pants. Her hair and eyes were, not surprisingly, a dark violet color.
I waved to Violet, "Is Flie coming too?" I asked.
"No I'm not coming." Flie said sarcastically. She had landed next to Violet and Maple. Flie had dark wavy brown hair; she wore a purple spaghetti strap top that turned into something like shorts at the bottom. Her pants, the same designs as Maple and mine's, were black and light purple striped. She had dark purple wings the same make-up as dragonfly wings. That's probably where she got her name from. "Sorry I'm late, my mom made me clean up my room a bit before I could come."
"I hate it when parents are like that." Violet added.
"Yea," Maple chimed in, "last night my mom made me clean the whole house." After she said that a startled look came to her face and her hand flew to her mouth. "Sky I'm so sorry, I completely forgot you didn't have parents."
I smiled very slightly, "It's alright, not like I really know what I'm missing anyway. No harm done."
Flie and Violet looked equally sorry. Then Violet said, "Oh I almost forgot, Autumn wanted us to go to her party. And you know how her mother insists that everyone invited has to come."
"Your right," Maple said. Flie nodded in agreement.
I sighed exasperatedly, "Why do we have to do everything she says."
They looked at me, slightly shocked, "Sky your always like this," Violet said, "She's the queen, we have to."
"I still don't like the idea of having a queen." I said.
"You're lucky she even let you stay in this area." Flie piped up.
I gave her a confused look, "let me stay? What are you talking about?"
Maple gave Flie a 'nice going' look and then turned back to me, " know how you don't really remember how you came here or anything..."
I nodded slightly, "And?"
"Well," Violet continued for Maple, "We saw you laying on that rock in the middle of the stream, unconscious by the looks of it. And went to tell someone."
"And then," Flie continued, "The queen came and had a look, she brought you to the hollow where you live and set you up your house. And let you stay there."
"Oh please don't be angry for us not telling you," Maple said pleadingly, "we just didn't want to ask too many questions. And then when we realized you had no idea what had decided not to bring it up."
"And you just assumed that I wouldn't mind nobody telling me the little of my past that I would have been able to know!?" I asked, almost furiously. These were my friends, and they hadn't told me about this!
"Once the Queen found out you didn't know, she told us not to tell you." Violet said quietly.
"Please Sky; try to understand that we would have told you if we could, you know we would have!" Maple pleaded.
I sighed again, allowing myself to cool off. Maple was right; I knew they wouldn't, even though the whole thing just made me dislike the whole queen idea even more. "I'm sorry guys, I shouldn't have yelled."
"We're sorry too." Flie said
"Definitely." Violet agreed. "Well we better go get ready for Autumn's party. Come with us Sky, it might be fun." She smiled.
"Alright, I'll come." I gave in. "You go ahead, I'll meet you back at my place."
"If you're sure," Flie said. And then they flew off, waving back.
I returned the wave, when they were gone I flew over to the rock they had found me on. I sat on it and looked around; maybe there was something here that would help me find my past. I looked into the water and saw the glistening glass. That was one thing sure, but not much. Then I saw something that glistened in a different way. I squinted my eyes at it, but couldn't tell what it was from this far. Flying over to it I picked it up, well more like picked the pieces out of the water. They were four small pieces of metal; it almost looked like they might have formed a ring at some point. I looked closely at them, something about them was familiar so I put them in a pocket at the edge of my shirt, it was just big enough to hold them. Making sure they wouldn't fall out, I flew off in the direction my friends had gone, maybe the party wouldn't be that bad.

AN- I don't know where I'm going with this story really yet, but I promise I wont stop writing! Please REVIEW!!
