Not Giving Up

He can feel himself fading
Slowly to join the darkness
That surrounds his life

Death stands at his door
Laughing softly and opening
Her arms to bring him peace

Yet he will not get up
From the blood stained floor
He will not take her hand
And follow her through the door

"Come now my child"
She wants him to go
He shakes his head, pleading no

"I'm not giving up,
I'm not giving in"
He holds onto this realm

Death smiles sadly and turns
Ready to walk through the door
"I'll see you another day,
When you're older, and ready"

He collapses in tears
But smiles and lies down
Death watches him sleeping
And smiles back herself
