Ode to Dr. Pepper

Does it matter what time of day you drink Dr. Pepper?
It's ten minutes until one-thirty in the morning.
When the fizzy soda travels down my throat on this morning, it burns.
But it was when I returned to the carbonated drink that everything changed.
I took a drink from the can and it tasted lumpy.
Maybe a bug got trapped within the aluminum casing?
